Finding Creative Valances for two of our windows January 29, 2011.mp4

Finding Creative Valances for two of our windows January 29, 2011.mp4 Tube. Duration : 9.12 Mins.

We had these two window valances first in our den and then in an upper room. Over time they didn't fit our taste or decor, so we banished them to the attic. We pulled them down, ripped off all of the fabric, painted the two valances, and now they relate well to the decor in the guest quarters.

Improve Windows XP Performance

There are many ways to improve the performance of your Windows XP machine. Why does it always seem that when you first buy your computer or load XP on it for the first time, Window seems to be screaming fast, but then over time, it just starts to slow down, often times to the point where it is unbearable? Even if you may have a computer with tons of RAM, a super-fast CPU, and plenty of disk space, your computer just becomes virtually unresponsive.

The most obvious solutions that come to mind are to run antivirus and antispyware software on your machine, or to perhaps even run a disk defragmentation program against your computer's hard drive.

But what if you have already tried these to no avail, and your computer is still running slow and exhibiting poor performance?

The problem may then lie in the Windows Registry. The Windows Registry is a hidden database that is used by Windows to store all the information about every program that has been installed on your machine, all application and user profiles, all custom settings for your operating system, including system start up information, file associations, device information, and much, much more.

Windows constantly searches this registry for all of the information it needs in order to function and perform its tasks. Therefore, it is extremely critical that this database remain optimized at all times. As databases go, the Windows Registry is extremely prone to become unoptimized and bloated, upwards of tens of megabytes in size. As you install and uninstall software, hardware, and make changes to your system, this database has the potential to generate errors due to invalid and obsolete references, and even have its referential integrity compromised. The more inefficiently organized the data in the registry is, the longer it takes for Windows to search through it. The cumulative effect of this problem is what results in the performance degradation that you almost inevitably experience with Windows XP.

Unfortunately, Windows does not come with a registry optimization utility. Fortunately, though, there do exist many third-party utilities that can scan your Windows Registry and fix all of the errors it encounters. Fixing these errors will almost always result in a significant performance boost for your system.

Much like getting an oil change, tune up, and a tire rotation as means of preventative maintenance for your car, it is essential that you run a Windows Registry optimizer periodically to maintain the health of your operating system, to keep it running smoothly.
